Overview
Receiving Intelligence evaluates individual players, but every receiving profile exists within a wider team environment.
Team Context highlights important changes in that environment that may influence how a player's profile should be interpreted.
It provides context without changing the player's Receiving Intelligence evaluation.
Why Team Context Exists
Opportunity is influenced by more than individual performance.
Changes within a team's receiving hierarchy, player availability and the surrounding receiving ecosystem can all affect how a player's profile develops over time.
Team Context helps users recognise those situations while keeping football evaluation separate from contextual information.
Market Alpha Context
Fantasy Mate identifies the team's most important established receiving assets using an independent market-based reference.
This information is used only as contextual information. It is never used to calculate Receiving Intelligence scores, Team Score, League Overall Score or trend measurements.
Its purpose is simply to help users understand whether the surrounding receiving environment has changed.
Missing Alpha
Missing Alpha indicates that one or more key members of a team's established receiving hierarchy are unavailable during the current evaluation period.
When this occurs, remaining pass catchers may temporarily receive different opportunities than they normally would.
Missing Alpha does not imply that another player has permanently earned a larger role. It simply identifies that the team's receiving ecosystem is operating under different conditions.
Becoming Alpha
Becoming Alpha identifies a meaningful change in a team's receiving hierarchy.
It highlights players who have emerged into the leading position within their team's current receiving environment.
The designation reflects a change in the team's hierarchy rather than a permanent label. As the season evolves, the hierarchy may change again.
Losing Alpha
Losing Alpha identifies the opposite transition.
It highlights players who were previously the leading figure within the team's receiving hierarchy but are no longer occupying that position.
This should be interpreted as contextual information rather than a judgement of player quality. Many factors can contribute to changes in team hierarchy during a season.
Why These Indicators Matter
Two players with similar Receiving Intelligence profiles may deserve different interpretation depending on their team environment.
Understanding changes in the surrounding receiving hierarchy helps explain why opportunities sometimes expand or contract without changing the underlying analytical philosophy of Receiving Intelligence.
Independent from Receiving Intelligence
Team Context complements Receiving Intelligence but does not influence it.
Receiving Intelligence evaluates football performance.
Team Context provides additional information about the player's surrounding environment.
Keeping these concepts separate allows Fantasy Mate to describe both the player's profile and the context in which that profile exists.
Team Context enriches interpretation of a player's profile but never changes Receiving Intelligence scores or trends.
How to Use Team Context
Review Team Context after analysing the Current Profile, OTI, Baseline and Reliability.
It should be used to enrich interpretation, not to replace the football evaluation itself.
