Overview
Availability provides additional context about a player's participation during the current NFL regular season.
Receiving Intelligence evaluates football performance using the information available from games played. Availability helps users understand whether a player's profile may have been influenced by missed time or limited participation.
It adds context without changing the analytical evaluation.
Why Availability Exists
Two players can produce similar Receiving Intelligence profiles under very different circumstances.
One player may have participated throughout the season, while another may have missed games before returning to action.
Availability helps users recognise these situations so that player profiles can be interpreted within the appropriate context.
Context, Not Evaluation
Availability is intentionally separate from Receiving Intelligence.
It does not increase or decrease category scores, Team Score, League Overall Score, OTI or any other football evaluation.
Instead, it provides additional information that may help explain why a player's profile looks the way it does.
Availability describes participation context. It does not modify the player's analytical evaluation.
How to Interpret Availability
Availability should be viewed as supporting context.
Periods of missed participation may temporarily affect role, opportunity and production. As more games are played, the player's Receiving Intelligence profile will naturally evolve to reflect the most recent evidence.
Availability helps users understand that these changes may be influenced by participation as well as on-field performance.
Availability and Reliability
Availability and Reliability answer different questions.
Availability describes participation.
Reliability describes how much evidence supports the current profile.
Although the two concepts are often related, they should not be interpreted as the same measurement.
Availability and Team Context
Availability focuses on the individual player.
Team Context focuses on the surrounding receiving ecosystem.
Together they help explain why opportunities sometimes change without altering the underlying philosophy of Receiving Intelligence.
What Availability Is Not
Availability is not a prediction, a depth-chart indicator or a judgement of player quality.
It simply provides additional context about player participation so that Receiving Intelligence can be interpreted more effectively.
Do not interpret Availability as a depth-chart designation or a measure of player quality. It communicates participation context only.
How to Use Availability
Availability is best considered after reviewing the Current Profile, OTI, Baseline, Reliability and Team Context.
Used together, these components provide a balanced understanding of both the player's analytical profile and the circumstances surrounding it.
